Movies for $5 at Kerasotes Theaters
Topic: Film & TV

I read in the Star recently that Kerasotes Theaters has a special "club" where you can see certain movies for $5 at any time of day. This applies generally to movies that have been playing for at least two weeks.
Sign up online and they'll mail you a card, which you can present along with $5 for admission. It allows one admission per card, so families need one card per person. See details and a list of participating theaters at www.fivebuckclub.net.
I frequent the Kerasotes Showplace 12 at Glendale, where the usual matinee price is something like $6.25, with evening showings at $8.75 – so this will save you money no matter what time of day you go!

I signed up for this the other day, because kerasotes is my preferred theater. Pretty cool!

Can you see first run movies with them? Or do you have to wait a few days or a week? If not, it's a great deal.

Hi -- unfortunately you can't see movies when they first come out, for this discounted price. You have to wait "usually two weeks" -- until the contract the theater has with the distributor allows them to discount the price. That seems to vary film by film. (So, they're still "first run" movies, just not in the first two weeks of their run.)
I just got the first of what I assume is a weekly newsletter which tells which of their films is eligible for this discount.

I signed up for your $5 Buck club about a month ago & have yet to get the Thurs e-mail as to what movies will be in/on the program. I spoke to Mary Baker of your organization & sent her an e-mail confirming my e-mail address, but haven't heard from her. What happened? D Coppens 618-345-4625

Hi, David -- this isn't "our" (meaning, IndyScribe's) program -- my post was FYI only. I don't know Mary Baker. Please contact Kerasotes Theaters at www.kerasotes.com to inquire further. Good luck!

Deb, if you sign up for the card at the link in the above post, they'll send you an e-mail each week with a list of the movies that qualify for the card that week. They're usually the second or third week of a recently-released movie.

I'm going to close the comments on this particular article, because we've answered the questions to the best of our ability. We aren't in any way affiliated with Kersotes or their Five Buck Club. We just mentioned it on our site because it's something several of us have signed up for. If you have questions about the club, we're not the people to contact. Try looking on their website or use the email address that we've mentioned.
