Jennifer Bortel
Jennifer Bortel spent her itinerant youth at military bases throughout the country, including stints in Alaska, Kansas, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. After graduating from Penn State with degrees in English and Anthropology, she moved to Philadelphia. She was lucky enough to live there during front end of the second restaurant renaissance and to work for a publishing company that wasn't shy about the “E” in T&E. Subsequently, she did a lot of eating and drinking, or recovering from eating and drinking. After a brief detour to Ann Arbor, she moved to Indianapolis, where she has lived for five years.
Her hobbies include reading (mostly fiction. Well, truthfully mostly magazines, which she can't seem to stop subscribing to even though she doesn't even have time to read the ones she gets, which include Entertainment Weekly, the New Yorker, Rolling Stone, Vogue, Cook's Illustrated, and The Economist, which is just crazy, really. She's not going to read The Economist. She just subscribed to be more politically aware and to develop a global perspective in order to argue effectively against those with whom she disagrees. Seriously, given the choice between reading about Hamid Karzai's effectiveness as the leader of Afghanistan or the 100 best movies of all time, it's no contest, is it?), yoga, and running. Oh, and eating.
