Ye Olde Fishers Ren Faire
Topic: Events & Festivals

Here's still more photographic evidence that, yes, Fishers had a ren faire. As someone who loved playing Dungeons & Dragons as a kid, this brought back a flood of (imagined) memories. I think the thing that pleases me most about these kinds of events (Conner Prairie, Civil War reenactments, etc.) is that your belief can be suspended one moment, and completely obliterated the next.
It used to be that one swore allegiance to a king; I guess now brave corporate logos will have to do.
Platinum, gold, silver, copper, and credit cards accepted.
OK, so I wandered around the faire for awhile, and I got to wondering: how does one go about buying a suit of armor these days? Ebay? Another question for our gentle readers: is there a name for someone who frequents ren faires? Rennies? Post a comment with your suggestion!
This looks comfortable -- I wonder if they make laptop bags that will fit on your head.

Ebay is just fine if you're looking for costume armour. Occasionally some more battle ready pieces will come up as well. However, if the armour is intended for protective purposes, I would highly suggest buying from a trained artist instead of ebay.
Here's a good place to gather info:

However, if you are just looking for something fun to wear to the fair, then yes...ebay would do just fine. And ebay would be much less expensive.

I've had some friends get some high quality goods from eBay actually, but buyer beware, certainly. One friend of mine is keen for doing acrobatics down hillsides in full chain and partial plate when we run around at our larp. :) But we're prolly a bit more hardcore than most Faire goers.
